Pediatric Endocrinology

In pediatric endocrinology, we deal with the examinations and treatments of hormonal disorders in childhood and adolescence.

The hormonal diseases can be of congenital, as well as genetic nature. Hormonal diseases include, for example, thyroid disorders, growth disorders or growth hormone disease, adrenal and sex hormone disorders.

One of the most common topics is the Growth. Questions arise about the height of the children, as well as the final height as an adult. During the consultation, we will find out together whether there are any abnormalities in your child and whether appropriate clarifications and therapies need to be continued.

One issue of high importance is the Onset of puberty and the associated question of whether the child is already in puberty? What happens if puberty has not yet begun, although the first changes are already noticeable in the child's friends? We clarify these and other questions about physical and mental changes in connection with puberty in an individual consultation.

There are different Syndromesassociated with a hormone disorder. These include, for example, Turner syndrome, Klinefelter-, Kallemann-, Noonan-, as well as the Prader Willi syndrome. If necessary, we are happy to clarify whether a hormone disorder or syndrome is present and address this together with a suitable therapy.

In children who were too small or too light at birth (so-called small for gestational age or short SGA), an additional examination and consultation is required at Youkidoc recommended. In connection with a SGA can lead to growth disorders or even premature physical development (Adrenarche). In young women, who are considered to be SGA are born, consequences of cycle irregularity may occur.
